MSW/MPH Degree?

Psychology=Love asked:

I’m a college sophomore and I am really interested in getting a joint master’s degree in public health and social work after I complete my undergraduate work. Has anyone gotten this degree or is anyone in the process of getting it? If so, what are the best schools to go to? Also, what kind of job could I get/what is the pay scale (doesn’t matter that much to me…I just want to help people, but I have to be able to live off of it!). What should I be doing as an undergrad to help me prepare for this type of graduate program? Thanks!

    Below you will find a list of about 12 schools that offer the joint MSW/MPH. Of these Berkley and Michigan are probably the two best schools…but all of them are good.

    As for salary some of this will depend on where you live but starting salary for a new MSW ranges from 30-60 and with the dual degree it will be in that higher realm if you are employed by a large hospital.

    If you want to speed up the process the best thing you can do as an undergrad is get your BSW (This would allow you to apply for advanced standing and would save you a year of grad work (and a year of tuition). DA
